A happy February and a happy American Heart Month to you! While we're surrounded by pink and red hearts in February, we need to stop and remember the beating heart in our bodies. Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the U.S -- which is why we need self-care like Reiki to help fight heart disease.
A Reiki session is a leader of all relaxing modalities. The relaxation achieved in a reiki session leads to a slew of health benefits -- including heart healthy benefits. For centuries, we've been building personal, historical, and intuitive evidence that Reiki is beneficial for the treatment and prevention of heart disease. More recently, science has now been providing more solid evidence that Reiki sessions are a powerful weapon in the fight against heart disease.
In a study at Yale, heart attack patients that received a 20-minute Reiki treatment reported improvements in mood and heart rate variability (HRV). Those measurable improvements in emotions and HRV show real promise in improving heart disease patients quality of life.
At Harvard Medical School, patients who received a Reiki treatment before a cardiac catheterization were more relaxed, confident, and cooperative.
Patients who received Reiki therapy within 72 hours of suffering a heart attack were more happy, relaxed and calm, according to a study from American College of Radiology. The energy work helped those patients reduce harmful emotions like anxiety, stress, anger, sadness, frustration, worry, and fright.
More and more studies continue to emerge to build a mountain of evidence in support of Reiki for heart health. The underlying benefit of relaxation reduces stress -- stress that leads to heart disease and other complications in the body. Reiki is the perfect addition to any heart-healthy lifestyle.
